You should take this medicine 3 times a day for a total daily dose of 2.4 grams. You should take Asacol for 6 weeks. The recommended dosage of this medicine for maintenance of cutback of ulcerative colitis in adults is 1.6 grams to be taken daily. The medicine should be taken in divided doses for duration of 6 months. However, you should remember that 2 Asacol 400 mg tablets are not bioequivalent to 1 Asacol HD (mesalamine) 800 mg tablet.
