Atopica is indicated for the treatment of atopic dermatitis in dogs. A common skin condition, atopic dermatitis is triggered by allergens like pollens or house dust mites. The active component in Atopica is Cyclosporine, which has anti-inflammatory properties. Cyclosporine (generic name of Atopica) works by inhibiting the action of certain chemicals which causes the pet’s immune system to produce an exaggerated response when exposed to allergens. This, in turn, decreases the itching and inflammation that occurs due to allergic reactions.
Atopica, besides containing Cyclosporine, also contains the following inactive ingredients: iron oxide black, tocopherol, carminic acid, and titanium dioxide.
