Azelex is indicated for the treatment of moderate or mild acne. The generic name of this drug is Azelaic Acid, and it belongs to a category of drugs referred to as dicarboxylic acids. It works by killing infection-causing bacteria.
The inactive ingredients present in this drug are: cetearyl octanoate, purified water, glycerin, cocoglycerides, cetearyl alcohol, propylene glycol, benzoic acid (preservative), cetyl palmitate, glyceryl stearate, and PEG-5 glyceryl stearate.

The treatment period may vary from case to case. Azelex may take some time—up to 4 weeks—to show positive results. Do not stop using the drug if you do not see immediate results. However, consult your doctor if no tangible improvement is witnessed after 4 weeks.
