General Information on Bambec
Bambec tablets are used for Asthma and other lung related conditions. They are used to widen the air passageway to the lungs. They are chemically known as bambuterol hydrochloride and they belong to the class of drugs called as bronchodilators.
Asthma and other lung related problems occur when the amount of air that enters the lungs is reduced. Bambec relaxes the airway and widens it, thus allowing more air into the lungs. You can take this tablet with or without food, but you should not chew or bite it. You can buy Bambec in three forms- Bambec 5mg, Bambec 10 mg and Bambec 20 mg.
The major ingredient of this drug is bambuterol hydrochloride. Lactose, starch, cellulose and purified water are other ingredients used in this medicine.
Side effects of Bambec
In rare cases, Bambec can induce serious allergies. Since it contains lactose, it will cause adverse effects in patients who are lactose intolerant. You can only take this medicine if you are not allergic to it or any of its ingredients. Common allergic reactions include swelling in face, shortness of breath and decreased blood pressure. If you face any of these, contact a doctor immediately.
You should let your doctor know if you any face any of the following severe side effects:
- Reduced blood potassium levels, indicated by unusual and extreme muscle weakness
- Heart problems, characterized by irregular heartbeats
- Sneezing, increased difficulty in breathing
The less severe side effects of Bambec tablets include tremors, restlessness and cough. If you notice any of these minor side effects, you can continue taking this medicine after informing your doctor about it. On the other hand, agitation and hyperactivity are less common and severe side effects of Bambec.
This tablet could reduce the amount of potassium in your body. To manage that, you could take drugs such as salmeterol or theophylline which will increase the potassium content of the body.
If you are breastfeeding, consult with your doctor and discuss the risks involved before taking this medicine. Bambec may pass into breast milk, which could harm the nursing child.
Dosage of Bambec
In most cases, Bambec 10mg would be recommended for treatment. However, your doctor would determine the best dosage of Bambec after evaluating your medical condition. You can buy Bambec online or from your local pharmacist, but you would need a valid prescription to do so. Generally, Bambec is prescribed for one dosage per day.
If you are diabetic, you may need to undergo some tests before you are given Bambec. You may also undergo certain medical tests if you kidney problems, thyroid abnormalities or heart diseases.
Children under the age of 12 are usually administered with Bambec 5 mg tablets.
Interactions
You cannot take Bambec along with Beta-blockers such as atenolol or timolol. Both these drugs have opposite effects, which may result in breathing difficulties.
