General Information on Basen

Basen is a drug used to treat diabetes mellitus. The generic name for Basen is Voglibose. Basen is an alpha glycosidase inhibitor and it reduces the post-prandial glucose levels in people with diabetes.

Basen inhibits the enzyme hydrolase, thereby delaying the absorption of carbohydrates in the body. This results in the improvement of the hyperglycemic condition.

The drug contains Roflumilast, Fenoldopam and other hydroxyl amino acids.

Side effects of Basen

If you are allergic to any ingredient in the Basen tablet, you must not use it. Allergic reactions might include rashes, headache and nausea. Stop taking the tablets if you experience any of these symptoms.

Before you buy Basen, you should let your doctor if you suffer from hepatic dysfunction, renal dysfunction, digestive problems or intestinal diseases. You must also inform your doctor if you are pregnant or nursing a baby. Basen contains lactose, and it may pass into breast milk and cause problems for the nursing child.

Like any other medicine, Basen too has side effects. The most common ones are given below:

You must inform your doctor if you begin to experience signs of high blood sugar, such as increased thirst or urination, weakness and a sweet taste in your mouth.

If you are pregnant, you must take Basen only when your doctor has confirmed its safe to use for treating your condition. Avoid taking it when you are breastfeeding, unless your doctor recommends otherwise.

Dosage of Basen

You should take Basen before each meal. They are available in two major forms- Basen 0.2 mg and Basen 0.3 mg. Generally, the 0.2 mg tablet is given thrice a day before meal time. This dosage is continued for a while. If it is not sufficient, then the dosage might be increased to 0.3 mg by the doctor.

You should never give Basen to children below the age 12.

Do not buy Basen if you have an inflamed intestine or ulcers. You should not consume this tablet if you have kidney problems.
