General Information on Cestex
Cestex is a veterinary medication with the generic name epsiprantel. This drug is indicated for the treatment of cats and dogs. Epsiprantel belongs to the drug class known as anthelminthics.
You can buy Cestex online for the treatment of tapeworm infections if it has been prescribed by your vet. Cestex works by paralyzing tapeworm and making them lose their grip on the intestinal wall, which results in them getting digested. There are little or no signs of the tapeworm in a pet’s stools after it is given this drug.
You must talk to your veterinarian about the safe use of Cestex in your pet. This is especially important if your pet is old, sick, pregnant, or lactating.
Side effects of Cestex
Cestex is not known to cause extremely serious side effects. However, in certain rare cases, it has been known to cause diarrhea and vomiting. Such side effects only last for a day even if they do occur. Nevertheless, you must inform the veterinarian if you notice any such side effects in your dog after giving it Cestex. Moreover, you must inform your veterinarian if your dog or cat has other side effects as well.
Cestex is not indicated for use in puppies or kittens younger than 7 weeks of age. It is also not indicated for human use. Therefore, this medication has to be kept away from children and puppies/kittens.
Dosage of Cestex
Cestex is a prescription medication, which means you can only buy Cestex if it has been specifically prescribed by your veterinarian. Cestex is available in the form of oral tablets. In most cases, a dog would be given a daily dose of 2.55mg per pound of weight in the form of a single dose. If a cat is being treated, the usual dosage would be limited to a single dose of 1.25mg per pound of weight. Fasting before giving Cestex is not required. In fact, it is not recommended.
Cestex is available in 12.5mg strength, which means that a single tablet contains 12.5mg of epsiprantel. The right dosage will be determined by the veterinarian after evaluating your pet’s condition. Humans can also get infected by tapeworms, so it is necessary that you take adequate precautions to stop the spread of the tapeworm infection.
You must clean up after your pet, and you must not forget to wash your hands carefully and thoroughly after you administer Cestex to your dog or cat. Moreover, you should also remove any fleas from your pet’s fur as well as from your home. You are advised to keep your dog or cat from eating uncooked fish or meat or rodents.
Interactions
Cestex is not known to interact with any other drug. Nevertheless, it is always recommended that you inform the vet about any other product, medication, etc. that you are giving to your pet before you buy Cestex. Your doctor can then properly evaluate the risk of an interaction and advise you on the same.
