Clarinex Syrup is prescribed for the treatment of allergy symptoms such as a runny nose, watery eyes, and sneezing. The generic name of Clarinex Syrup is desloratadine, which is an antihistamine.
Clarinex Syrup works by preventing the action of histamines, which are naturally produced chemicals responsible for the occurrence of nasal as well as non-nasal symptoms such as runny nose, itching, watery eyes, and sneezing.

Clarinex Syrup is indicated for the relief of symptoms caused by seasonal allergic rhinitis in patients 2 years of age or older. It is also indicated for the treatment of perennial allergic rhinitis and chronic skin reactions in patients 6 months of age or older.
The recommended dosage of Clarinex Syrup for adults or children older than 12 years is 5mg/10mL once a day. For children between the ages of 6 and 11 years, the recommended dosage of Clarinex Syrup is 2.5mg/5mL once a day. For children between the ages of 1 year and 5 years, the recommended dosage of this medication is 1.25mg/2.5mL. For children between the ages of 6 months to 11 months, the recommended daily dose of Clarinex Syrup is 1mg/2mL once.
