General Information on Cortenema
Cortenema is used for treating symptoms of an intestinal condition known as ulcerative colitis. The drug cannot cure the condition, but can manage it effectively with the help of other drugs that are taken along with it. The generic name of Cortenema is Hydrocortisone, and it belongs to the category of corticosteroids.
You can buy Cortenema in the form of an enema. It works by reducing inflammation in the colon and rectum so that bloody stools and diarrhea are reduced.
Side effects of Cortenema
Before you buy Cortenema, inform your doctor if you have an allergy to Hydrocortisone, or if you are suffering from a stomach or intestinal problem such as ulcers, blockage, infections or bleeding, eye conditions such as glaucoma, herpes in the eye or cataract, heart problems such as a recent heart attack or congestive heart failure, thyroid problems such as an underactive or overactive thyroid, mental or mood conditions such as depression or psychosis, high blood pressure, kidney or liver disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, blood clotting or bleeding problems, muscle or nerve disease, or low calcium or potassium levels in the blood. In such circumstances, your doctor may need to conduct some special tests or make dosage adjustments before recommending Cortenema for your treatment.
Dizziness, burning or pain in the rectum, trouble sleeping, increased sweating, unusual weight gain, changes in menstrual periods, unusual hair growth, or acne may commonly occur during Cortenema treatment. You should inform your doctor at once if any of these symptoms become too bothersome to be managed.
Cortenema causes dizziness, so you must avoid driving a vehicle, operating a machine, or doing any such activity that requires you to be completely alert immediately after taking a dose. Do not take any other drugs that cause dizziness, including sleeping pills, sedatives, anti-anxiety, antidepressants, or anti-seizure medicines, narcotic pain relievers, or tranquilizers along with Cortenema.
Some serious side effects associated with Cortenema include unusual skin growths, thinning of the skin, puffy face, vision problems, increased thirst or urination, swelling of the ankles or feet, persistent headache, slow healing of wounds, unusual bruising or bleeding, persistent rectal bleeding, severe heartburn, black or tarry stools, dark colored vomit, brittle bones and/or bone pain, severe abdominal or stomach pain, mental or mood changes, irregular heartbeat, muscle pain or weakness, seizures, or signs of infection such as persistent throat soreness, fever, worsening irritation or redness near the anus, or painful urination.
Dosage of Cortenema
You will usually need to take one Cortenema enema every night for 21 days, but the treatment may continue for as long as 3 months depending on the severity of your medical condition. If you are using Cortenema for more than 21 days, you will need to discontinue it gradually. In that case, your doctor will advise you to take one Cortenema every two days for around 2-3 weeks.
In order to achieve the best results, you will be advised to lie down for 30 minutes on your left after using the enema. In this way, Cortenema will be well distributed through your intestines. Also avoid urinating right after taking a dose.
