Cyklokapron is an antifibrinolytic agent used for interim (two to eight days) reduction and prevention of excessive bleeding. It can also be used for reducing the requirement of blood clotting transfusions during or after tooth extractions in patients suffering from hemophilia. Cyklokapron helps in blocking the collapse of blood clots in the body. It is a prescription drug. Heparin can be added to Cyklokapron. Since it is a synthetic amino acid, it should not be combined with other solutions that contain penicillin. Cyklokapron is largely excreted by the kidney, and the danger of toxic reactions to it can be greater in people suffering from impaired renal function.

10mg per kg body weight of Cyklokapron should be administered intravenously right before tooth extraction in patients suffering with hemophilia. After the tooth extraction, a dose of 10 mg per kg body weight can be used 3-4 times a day for 2 to 8 days. Cyklokapron injection may be blended with most solutions for infusion like carbohydrate solutions, electrolyte solutions, dextran solutions and amino acid solutions.
