Denavir is an anitiviral medicine. This medicine is meant for topical use. It is used for treating recurring cold, sores caused by herpes simplex virus on the face and lips. The medicine works by hindering the growth of the virus. It is advised to start using the Denavir drug at the outset of the cold sores. However, you should not apply this medicine to the inside of your nose. It should also not be used near the eyes as it may lead to irritation. This drug may cause minor side effects. Denavir is recommended for adults and children of or above the age of 12 years. The medicine should be taken every 2 hours during waking hours. The treatment is recommended to be continued for a period of 4 days. If you miss any dose then take it as soon as you remember it. However, you should skip the dosage if it is already the time for your next dose. The medicine is available in the form of a 1.5 gram tube. This tube contains 10 mg of penciclovir per gram of the ointment. Denavir is advised to be stored at a controlled room temperature between 20 degrees and 25 degrees Celsius.
