General Information on Dicetel
Dicetel is used to treat irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). It helps relieve the symptoms of IBS, which includes bowel disturbances, abdominal pain, and intestinal discomfort. The drug is also used to treat and provide relief from symptoms caused by specific gallbladder disorders related to bile secretion.
Pinaverium Bromide, the main ingredient in the medication, belongs to a class of drugs known as gastrointestinal calcium antagonists. It is a musculotropic anti-spasmodic drug which selectively works on the gastrointestinal tract. Dicetel blocks voltage dependent calcium channels in the intestinal smooth muscles, which helps relax the smooth muscles of the bowel and the biliary tract.
Dicetel is available in the form of a tablet. It is supplied in two different strengths: 50mg and 100mg. The drug is a prescription medication, so you should buy Dicetel only if it is recommended for your treatment. Dicetel is indicated for use in adults only.
Side effects of Dicetel
Dicetel may cause mild to severe side effects in some people. Abdominal bloating, constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, nausea, headache, skin allergy, heartburn, or feelings of constant fullness are some of the common side effects associated with the drug.
You may also experience side effects such as redness of the face/arms/neck, back pain, yellowing of the skin, puffiness or swelling of the face, leg pain or back pain, or weakness after taking a dose of the medication. Pregnant women should use Dicetel only if it is recommended by their doctor. It is not known whether Pinaverium Bromide passes into breast milk and how it may affect the baby, so nursing mothers should avoid using this drug.

Dosage of Dicetel
Your doctor will give you specific instructions regarding the dosage. The dosage depends on several factors such as a patient’s weight, other medical conditions he/she is suffering from, and other medicines he/she is using.
The recommended initial adult dose is three Dicetel 50mg tablets a day. Take the medication with a glass of water during snacks or meals. Your doctor may increase the dose to three Dicetel 100mg tablets a day if the medical condition does not improve with a lower dose.
Swallow the Dicetel tablet whole, and do not break or chew it. Do not take the tablet just before bedtime or in a lying position. The duration of the treatment depends on the medical condition being treated.
If your doctor has recommended a dose of more than three Dicetel tablets a day, you should take the tablets along with a glass of water or any snack.
