General Information on Diprolene Cream

Diprolene Cream is used in the treatment of inflammation associated with various skin conditions like atopic dermatitis, plaque psoriasis, allergic dermatitis, and contact dermatitis. The generic name of this drug is Betamethasone Topical.

The active ingredient in this preparation, betamethasone, is a man-made corticosteroid. It works by reducing the activity of chemicals that cause swelling, redness, and inflammation.

Diprolene Cream is available in only one strength, that is, Diprolene Cream 0.05%. Each gram of this cream contains 0.5 mg of betamethasone. The inactive ingredients present in the formulation are: chlorocresol, white petrolatum, propylene glycol, cyclomethicone, white wax, glyceryl propylene /oleate glycol, sorbitol solution, sodium hydroxide R, carbomer 940, and ceteareth-30.

The drug is meant for topical use only. It is a prescription medication, which means you need a doctor’s prescription to buy Diprolene Cream. Your doctor may prescribe this drug for purposes other than the ones listed above.

Side effects of Diprolene Cream

During treatment, you may experience the following side effects: blistering skin, thinning of the skin, skin itching, burning, peeling, or redness, or stretch marks. These side effects, in most cases, are mild in intensity and disappear within a few days. If any of these side effects persist for a long time or become severe, you must immediately consult your doctor.

Apart from the above, the other side effects of Diprolene Cream include: weight gain, tiredness, puffiness of the face, insomnia, blurred vision, mood changes, or uneven heartbeat. Consult your doctor immediately if you experience any of these side effects during treatment.

Diprolene Cream is contraindicated in patients who have an allergy to betamethasone or any other ingredient present in the drug. An allergic reaction is likely to cause skin rashes and skin irritation. If the allergic reaction is severe, it may lead to a breathing difficulty, swelling of the lips, tongue, or throat, facial flushness, or trouble swallowing.

The use of this drug may not be safe or the best option if a patient is suffering from certain conditions. To make sure it is safe for you to buy Diprolene Cream, inform your doctor about your medical history.

Diprolene Cream is a pregnancy category C drug, meaning its effect on the fetus is unknown. The use of Diprolene Cream in pregnant women should only be considered if the expected benefit to the mother is greater than any potential risk to the fetus.

Diprolene Cream may harm a nursing child. If you are breastfeeding a baby, consult your doctor before using it.

Dosage of Diprolene Cream

Apply a thin layer of Diprolene Cream to the affected area once or twice daily or as specified by your doctor. Wash your hands before and after applying the drug. You should store Diprolene Cream at room temperature, away from bright light, heat, and moisture.
