Basic Information for Durezol

Durezol drug is a prescription medication that is used for the eyes. It is a corticosteroid that helps in preventing the release of inflammation causing substances. Quite often ocular surgery leads to inflammation or pain the eyes. This medication is used to treat post surgery inflammation and pain. This ophthalmic medication works by slowing down the production of prostaglandins, thereby reducing the swelling, pain and inflammation of the eyes. This medication may also be prescribed for providing relief to those patients recovering after a cataract surgery.

Precautions/Side Effects for Durezol

Talk to your doctor before using difluprednate and tell if you are allergic to it or any other medication, food or preservative. Inform your doctor if you have fungal or bacterial infection, viral eye infection and any untreated eye infection. Generic or brand Durezol may cause harm to an unborn baby. Do not use this medication without first talking to your doctor. If you are a breast feeding mother, do not buy Durezol without first discussing the benefits and risks with your doctor.

Difluprednate may cause lesser side effects that include: itching, redness, watering of eyes, feeling as if a foreign object is there in the eye, increased sensitivity to light and eye pain. Durezol Dosage

Durezol is normally administered 4 times per day starting 24 hours after an eye surgery. Normally, one drop is administered into the affected eye at a given time. The duration may last for a period of two weeks after which the dosage may be reduced to 2 times per day for a period of one week thereafter. This ophthalmic solution is now available as Durezol 5 ml at all leading pharmacy stores.
