General Information on Flarex Eye Drops

Flarex Eye Drops is used for treating swelling, itching, or redness in the eyes caused due to an injury, infection, or surgery. Its generic name is Fluorometholone, and it belongs to the class of steroid medicines.

You can buy Flarex Eye Drops in the form of an ophthalmic solution. It works by preventing release of certain substances in the patient’s body that cause inflammation.

Side effects of Flarex Eye Drops

You should not buy Flarex Eye Drops if you have an allergy to it or if you have glaucoma, cataracts, severe myopia, or diabetes.

After applying Flarex Eye Drops, your vision may become temporarily blurred for a couple of minutes. During this period, you should avoid driving a vehicle or operating heavy machinery, as a serious accident may take place. Wait for a few minutes until your vision becomes completely clear.

You may experience mild burning or stinging in the eyes immediately after applying the eye drops. If this burning or stinging sensation persists for more than 5 minutes, you should notify your doctor promptly.

Some serious side effects of the drug include eye pain or vision problems. Inform your doctor immediately if you develop any of these symptoms.

Flarex Eye Drops may mask signs of a new eye infection. Therefore, watch out for symptoms such as vision problems or redness, swelling, or discharge from the eyes. Also seek medical help if no signs of improvement are seen within 2 days of starting the treatment. Inform your doctor at once if you experience headache or extreme dizziness as a side effect of Flarex Eye Drops.

Some patients may have an allergic reaction to Flarex Eye Drops. Symptoms of an allergy include severe dizziness, difficulty breathing, hives, or facial swelling or itching. Seek medical attention immediately if you develop any of these signs of an allergic reaction.

If you wear contact lenses, remove them before applying the eye drops. Wait for at least 15 minutes before putting them back on. The eye drops may contain chemicals or preservatives that can damage your lenses.

Dosage of Flarex Eye Drops

Your doctor will advise you to apply Flarex Eye Drops in your affected eye two or three times a day. Initially, you may be advised to apply the eye drops after every couple of hours.

Before using Flarex Eye Drops, wash your hands thoroughly and shake the bottle properly. In order to avoid contamination, avoid touching the dropper tip with any surface, including your hands or eye. Do not rinse the dropper after use, and replace the cap after you are done applying the drops.

If you are using any other eye medicines, including eye ointments or drops, maintain a gap of 10 minutes between each dose. If you are using an ointment, use the eye drops before the ointment so that the drops can get fully absorbed by the eye.

You should try to apply Flarex Eye Drops at almost the same time each day. The dosage and duration of treatment depends on the type and severity of your infection. Use Flarex Eye Drops for the full period of prescription. Discontinuing it suddenly may worsen your condition. Your doctor will advise you to decrease the dosage of Flarex Eye Drops gradually as your condition improves.
