Tri Luma is a combination of 3 different class of drugs called keratolytic agent, corticosteroid and de-pigmentation agent. The drug is used as an intermittent treatment and is meant for short term use only. It is used to treat melasma (moderated to severe in nature) that occurs on the face. Melasma is the appearance of dark patches on the skin of the face. The drug is meant for topical use only. The corticosteroid component of the drug helps in reducing the inflammation. The keratolytic agent of the drug is a vitamin A which is in the topical form. Lastly, the de-pigmentation agent in the drug is a bleaching agent for the skin. Precautions / Side Effects For Tri Luma
Common side effects of Tri Luma drug are skin acne, rashes, tingling, burning, itching, redness, dryness, peeling or swelling of the skin, which are mild in severity. The drug may also cause blisters or bumps on the skin. You may notice more prominent blood vessels or red lines appearing on the skin. Fluocinolone/Hydroquinone/Tretinoin may cause serious side effects which may include darkening of the skin under treatment, severe swelling or burning of the skin and irritation of the mouth, eyes or nose. Tri Luma is applied topically in the form of a cream. The recommended dose of the drug is one application during the night time. Preferably, the drug should be applied about 30 minutes before the bed time. The cream should be applied as directed by the physician. Before applying the cream the area under treatment (neck or face) should be cleaned with a cleanser which is mild and then the skin should be rinsed and pat dried.
