Side effects of Gelclair
If you are using Gelclair oral gel, you may experience mild burning sensation inside your mouth. This is a common side effect and subsides on its own within a few minutes. However, if the burning sensation persists or worsens, inform your doctor about it.
Some patients may develop an allergic reaction to the medicine. Symptoms of an allergy include severe dizziness, hives, facial swelling, or difficulty breathing. Stop using the medicine and seek medical attention immediately if you develop any of these symptoms.
Discontinue using the medicine and notify your doctor if your condition does not improve within a few days of starting the treatment, if your symptoms get worse, or if you develop signs of a new infection such as oozing, swelling, warmth or redness in the area.
Avoid getting Gelclair in your eyes, nose or mouth or on your lips, as severe irritation may occur. If this happens, wash the area thoroughly with running water. You can use Gelclair in your mouth only if you are using it in the oral gel form.
If you are using the medicine to treat a wound, do not use a wound disinfectant which contains quarternary ammonium salts. Consult your doctor about the appropriate wound disinfecting method that you should use.
Dosage of Gelclair
You can buy Gelclair in form of a gel, cream, or spray. Cover the affected area with the medicine, without rubbing it. You should use a sterile gauze pad or any other occlusive dressing that your doctor has recommended to you. Your doctor will advise you to use Gelclair on the affected area 2 to 3 times in a day.
If you are using Gelclair oral gel, open the packet and pour its content into a glass. Add 2 tablespoons of water into it and stir it well. Rinse your mouth properly with the mixture by gargling and swishing for around 1 minute. Ensure that the inside of your cheeks, tongue, teeth and gums are thoroughly rinsed with the mixture, before you spit it out. Do not drink or eat anything for at least one hour. Gelclair oral gel can be used 3 times in a day.
You should use Gelclair exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Using the drug more often will not improve your condition. On the contrary, it may lead to serious side effects.
Drug Interactions of Gelclair
Usually, topical applications do not interact with orally taken medicines. However, you should inform your doctor about all the prescription and non-prescription medicines that you are currently taking. This information will help your doctor decide if Gelclair is the right medicine for you or not.
