Humalog 50/50 Insulin Cartridge is used for treating type 1 insulin dependent diabetes in adult patients. It is a mixture of 50% insulin lispro injection and 50% insulin lispro protamine suspension.
Insulin is a hormone produced by the body. Insulin lispro protamine is intermediate acting form of the insulin, while insulin lispro is the fast-acting one. The medicine works by lowering blood sugar levels in the patient’s body.

Side effects of Humalog 50/50 Insulin Cartridge

Inform your doctor if you develop thickening, redness, swelling or itching at the site of injection.

Dosage of Humalog 50/50 Insulin Cartridge
Each ml of Humalog 50/50 Insulin Cartridge contains 100 units of the medicine. Each Humalog unit has same effect to lower down glucose level as one regular human insulin unit. However, the effects of Humalog are more rapid and stay for a shorter duration of time. The dosage recommended to you depends largely on your body weight. Usually, your doctor will give you 0.3 units of medicine per kg of your body weight.
You should take this injection 15 minutes before taking your food.
Drug Interactions of Humalog 50/50 Insulin Cartridge
Do not take Humalog 50 50 Insulin Cartridge if you are already taking beta blockers (e.g. atenolol, nadolol, metoprolol or labetalol) or other medicines such as reserpine, clonidine or albuterol.
Also let your doctor know if you are taking any other medications, including health supplements , prescription and non-prescription medicines, and herbal preparations.
