Hyalgan contains a naturally occurring substance called the hyaluronate (a natural chemical in the body). It is used in the treatment and management of pain associated with osteoarthritis, especially in the knee. Common side effects of Hyalgan that you may experience are pain, swelling, itching, heat or reddening at the site of injection, in the joints. Other common side effect of the drug includes headache.
