Inderal LA is indicated for treating hypertension. In addition, Inderal LA is also used to treat heart rhythm disorders, angina (chest pain), and tremors. Further, doctors also prescribe Inderal LA to prevent and treat cardiovascular attack and to decrease both, frequency and intensity, of migraine headaches.
The active ingredient in this drug is propranolol hydrochloride, which is a beta blocking agent. The generic name of Inderal LA is Propranolol.
Inderal LA is meant for oral administration only. The drug is available in form of sustained release oral capsules in the following strengths: Inderal LA 60mg, Inderal LA 80 mg, Inderal LA 120mg, and Inderal 160mg. Common inert ingredients present in Inderal LA include: ethylcellulose, titanium dioxide, cellulose, hypromellose, and gelatin. Inderal LA 160mg oral capsules, in addition to common inert ingredients, also contain the following: FD&C Blue N0.1.
Side effects of Inderal LA
You should not buy Inderal LA if you have a known hypersensitivity to propranolol hydrochloride or any other ingredient present in the formulation. Asthmatics and patients who have 2nd or 3rd degree heart blockage should also not use Inderal LA.

The recommended starting dosage for angina pectoris is Inderal LA 80mg once a day. The usual maintenance dosage is Inderal LA 160mg once a day.
The recommended starting dosage for migraine is Inderal LA 80mg once a day. Depending on your response to the treatment, your doctor may gradually increase your dosage. The usual maintenance dosage is Inderal LA 160-240mg once daily.
The usual dosage for hypertrophic subaortic stenosis is Inderal LA 80-160mg once a day.

Interactions
