General Information on Indocin SR
Indocin SR (sustained release) is indicated for the treatment of osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, bursitis, tendinitis, gouty arthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis. The generic name of this drug is Indomethacin, and it falls under a category of drugs referred to as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or NSAIDs.
Indocin SR provides relief from pain and inflammation associated with the medical conditions listed above. Prostaglandins, which are naturally-occurring chemicals, are responsible for inflammation. Indocin SR, like other NSAIDs, reduces the production of these chemicals, as a result of which the inflammation and pain subsides.
Indocin SR is meant for oral administration and is available in the form of Indocin SR 75 mg oral tablets. In addition to Indomethacin, the active ingredient in the preparation, each SR oral tablets also contain the following inert ingredients: Ethylcellulose, Lactose Monohydrate, Sucrose, Gelatin, Silicon Dioxide, Corn Starch, Talc, Titanium Dioxide, Povidone, D&C Yellow No. 10, FD&C Green No. 3, and Sodium Lauryl Sulfate.
You need a doctor’s prescription to buy Indocin SR as it is a prescription drug. This drug may also be used to treat medical conditions other than the ones listed above.
