General Information on Inhibace
Inhibace is indicated for the treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension). This drug is also used for reducing the symptoms associated with congestive heart failure. The active ingredient in this drug is Cilazapril, which comes under a category of drugs referred as Angiotensin Converting Enzyme (ACE) inhibitors.
This drug works by inhibiting the production of certain naturally occurring chemicals that causes elevated blood pressure. For treatment of hypertension, Inhibace may used as a standalone treatment or along with thiazide diuretics. For treatment of chronic heart failure, Inhibace is used along with thiazide diuretics, digoxin, or both.
Inhibace is meant for oral administration only. You can buy Inhibace in form of oral tablets. It is available in following strengths – Inhibace 2.5mg, and Inhibace 5mg.
Side effects of Inhibace
You should not buy Inhibace if you have a known allergy to cilazapril, any other ingredient used in Inhibace, or other ACE inhibitors. If you are using a ACE inhibitor for the first time and experience any symptoms associated with allergy reaction, such as hives, skin rashes, facial flushness, difficulty breathing or swallowing, seek medical attention immediately.
Common side effects of this drug are: diarrhea, nausea, loss of taste, headache, weakness, or unusual tiredness. Consult your doctor if you experience any of the aforementioned side effects and they persist for a long time or are severe.
Other side effects associated with Inhibace are: abdominal pain, chest pain, difficulty urinating, ringing in the ears, vision problems, nervousness, confusion, yellowing of the eyes or skin, chills and fever, irregular heartbeat, and hoarseness. You should consult your doctor if you experience any of these side effects.
Before you start treatment, inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have or have had any liver, kidney, or heart disorder.
The safety of Inhibace in pregnant patients has not yet been confirmed. You must consult your doctor before using drug during pregnancy. If you become pregnant during treatment, inform your doctor about it.
It is not clear if Inhibace is harmful for breastfeeding infants. Consult your doctor before using Inhibace if you are breastfeeding.
Dosage of Inhibace
For the treatment of hypertension, the recommended maintenance dosage ranges from Inhibace 2.5 mg to Inhibace 10 mg per day. For the treatment of congestive heart failure, the recommended dosage ranges from Inhibace 2.5 mg to Inhibace 5 mg per day. Your doctor is likely to start treatment with a lower dosage of Inhibace and increase the dosage gradually until the dosage that produces optimal response is established.
You may take this medicine with or without food. If you experience epigastric stress (abdominal pain, constipation, flatulence, diarrhea, nausea, blenching) due to Inhibace, it is recommended that you take your dosage with food.
Interactions
Certain drugs may interact with Inhibace. Names of a few such drugs are: cyclosporine, allopurinol, rituximab, oral anti-diabetes drugs, tetracyclines, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (such as indomethacin, naproxen, or ibuprofen), beta-blockers (such as metoprolol or propranolol), and diuretics.
Other drugs may also cause complications when taken along with Inhibace. To ensure that this does not happen, inform your doctor about all other medications that you are taking. This includes all herbal supplements and over-the-counter medicines.
