General Information on Lexapro Solution
Lexapro Solution is indicated for the treatment of anxiety disorder and depression in adults and children aged 12 years or more. The generic name of this drug is Escitalopram. It comes under a category of drugs referred as SSRIs, or serotonin reuptake inhibitors.
This drug works by affecting the action of certain neurotransmitters. Lexapro Solution is administered orally and contains Escitalopram 5mg/5ml. Use of this drug for unintended medical purposes may lead to serious complications. So, you should buy Lexapro Solution only if your doctor has prescribed the drug for your treatment.
Side effects of Lexapro Solution
You should not use Lexapro Solution if:
- You have taken an MAO (monoamine oxidase) inhibitor in last 14 days
- You have a known hypersensitivity to any ingredient used in this drug
A Patient’s dosage may need to altered or he/she may require special monitoring if suffering from any of the following:
- Kidney disease
- Bipolar disorder
- Liver disease
- Seizure
Before you start treatment, inform your doctor if you have a history of suicidal thoughts or drug abuse.
Lexapro Solution may trigger thoughts about suicide, especially during the start of treatment and in patients aged less than 24 years. You should inform your doctor if you have recurring suicidal thoughts or your depression worsens during the first few weeks of treatment.
Other serious side effects of this drug may include: high fever, stiff muscles, tremors, uneven heartbeats, loss of appetite, vomitting, diarrhea, nausea, loss of coordination, hallucinations, trouble concentrating, severe headache, memory problems, seizure, fainting, weakness, or memory problems. You should consult your doctor if you experience any of these side effects.
Stop your medication and seek help from your doctor if you experience a hypersensitivity reaction after taking Lexapro Solution. Hypersensitivity reaction to this drug may lead to following symptoms: facial flushness, hives, skin rashes, itching, swelling of the upper face, wheezing, trouble swallowing or breathing.
Less serious side effects of this drug may include: dry mouth, insomnia, mild epigastric stress (constipation, gas, bloating, upset stomach), dizziness, weight changes, or decreased sex drive.
Lexapro Solution is listed as a pregnancy category C drug. Therefore, this drug may cause birth defects. If you are pregnant, use this drug only when approved by your doctor.
Lexapro Solution may be unsafe for lactating women. If you are using this drug avoid breastfeeding unless approved by your doctor.
Consult your doctor before administering this drug to a child aged less than 12 years. The safety of Lexapro Solution in children below 12 years has not been studied.
Dosage of Lexapro Solution
The recommended dosage of Lexapro Solution is 10mg/day. If required, the dosage may be increased to 20mg/day. However, increment in the dosage should only happen after the patient has been taking 10mg/day dosage for 7 days (1 week).
You should store Lexapro Solution at room temperature between 20°-30°C. Keep the drug away from children.
Interactions
Before you buy Lexapro Solution, inform your doctor about all other drugs that you are taking, especially if you are taking: an NSAID, blood thinner, any other antidepressant, lithium, cimetidine, sumatriptan, frovatriptan, naratriptan, almotriptan, carbamazepine, sertraline, amitriptyline, nortriptyline, zolmitriptan, or paroxetine.
