General Information on Livostin Nasal Spray
Livostin Nasal Spray is used to treat symptoms of allergic rhinitis such as runny nose, sneezing, or irritation. The generic name of this drug is Levocabastine. It comes under a category of drugs referred as antihistamines.
The nasal spray works by inhibiting the activity of histamine, a naturally occurring chemical that is responsible for the aforementioned symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis.
The drug is available in only one strength, Livostin Nasal Spray 0.5mg/ml. What this basically means is that each ml of this drug contains 0.5mg of Levocabastine, the active ingredient of the preparation. The drug also contains following excipients: polysorbate 80, propylene glycol, sodium phosphate monobasic, sodium phosphate dibasic, water, and hypromellose. In addition, Livostin Nasal Spray contains disodium edetate and benzalkonium chloride as preservative.

Side effects of Livostin Nasal Spray
You should not use Livostin Nasal Spray if:
- You are hypersensitive to any ingredient used in the drug
- The expiry date, listed on the pack, has passed

- Irritation to the nose
- Nose bleeds
- Drowsiness
- Headache
Some patients, who use Livostin Nasal Spray, may experience a hypersensitivity reaction. Stop taking your medication and consult your doctor if this happens. A hypersensitivity reaction can be identified by the following symptoms:
- Severe itching or irritation
- Skin rashes
- Hives
- Difficulty breathing

Certain drugs are unsafe for pregnant and/or lactating women. Although, Livostin Nasal Spray is not expected to harm an unborn or nursing child, it is necessary that you consult your doctor before using this drug if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Dosage of Livostin Nasal Spray
The recommended dosage is 2 sprays per nostril twice daily. If necessary, your doctor may increase your dosage to 2-3 sprays per nostril up to 4 times each day.
Do not refrigerate Livostin Nasal Spray. You should store the drug at room temperature at 20°-30°C. Keep the drug away from children.
Interactions
