When high blood pressure does not yield to treatment with a single drug (monotherapy), a combination of Amlodipine/Benazepril may be considered. Please note that higher number of Afro-American patients under ACE inhibitor treatment have reported angio edema than others when administered Lotrel. If you are following a prescribed diet with low salt content or are being treated with diuretics you may experience either symptomatic or real hypotension; that is low blood pressure. Adverse reactions reported with brand or generic Lotrel-Amlodipine/Benazepril include angioedema of the limbs, lips, glottis, larynx, and face. Discontinue the medication if you notice laryngeal stridor. In case of severe blockage of airways, Epinephrine injection 1:1000 (0.3-0.5 ml) is to be administered subcutaneously. If low blood pressure occurs while under brand or generic Lotrel therapy, lay the person on his/h2er back. The doctor will administer an infusion of physiologic saline intravenously. Some side effects may not occur until some months after taking the medicine.
Lotrel Dosage
Brand or generic Lotrel is to be taken once a day orally either with or without food. Do not exceed the dose. If you miss a dose, do not take extra dose to compensate. Take the dose at the same time everyday, which will help you to remember to take the medication. Inform your doctor if you are about to have a dental procedure, a surgery or kidney dialysis. Allow up to two weeks to notice the effect of lowering of the blood pressure after starting Lotrel.
