General Information On Lysodren
Lysodren is a prescription medicine used for the treatment of cancer of adrenal glands. Its active ingredient is Mitotane, and it is categorized as an antineoplastic agent.
The medicine is available in the form of oral tablets. It works by killing or slowing the growth of adrenal gland cells and reversing the effects caused due to production of excess hormone.
You may also be asked to buy Lysodren for the treatment of Cushing’s syndrome not caused due to adrenal cancer. Such a condition may also include a non-pituitary tumor.
Side effects of Lysodren
You should not buy Lysodren online if you are suffering from a blood pressure problem or liver disease or if you have a viral infection such as chickenpox or herpes. Patients with high blood pressure are not asked to buy Lysodren, as the medicine may make the patient’s blood pressure uncontrollable.
As Lysodren causes dizziness, you should not do any such activity that requires complete alertness, such as operating a machine or driving a vehicle. Avoid alcohol intake during Lysodren treatment, as it may worsen the side effects. Also try to rise slowly from a sitting or lying position.
Some common side effects associated with the drug include vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, loss of appetite, mild skin rash, spinning sensation, depression, tiredness, drowsiness or dizziness. These are mild side effects of the drug and subside on their own as your body becomes resistant to the drug. However, you should notify your doctor if any of these symptoms worsen or persist.
Seek medical help if you have pain or burning during urination, unexplained weight loss, balance, speech or walking problems, blood in the urine, confusion, blurred vision, double vision, tingling or warmth under the skin, cold or clammy skin, sweating, high fever, chills or uncontrolled shaking.
You should not use any medicine you are allergic to it, as this may result in severe worsening of the condition. Symptoms of an allergy to Lysodren include trouble breathing, severe dizziness, hives, or facial swelling. Discontinue the drug immediately and seek medical help if you develop any of these symptoms.
Dosage of Lysodren
Initially, your doctor will ask you to take Lysodren 2 to 6g per day, divided into 3 or 4 doses. The dosage can be increased to Lysodren 9 to 10g per day. The maximum dosage a patient can receive is Lysodren 16g per day.
You can take Lysodren tablets with or without meals. You should not crush, chew or break the tablets, as you should swallow them whole.
Your doctor may also need to take regular tests to evaluate your condition. Therefore, do not miss any scheduled appointments with the doctor.
Drug Interactions of Lysodren
Do not buy Lysodren and use it along with blood thinners (such as warfarin), diuretics (such as furosemide or spironolactone) or corticosteroids (such as dexamethasone or prednisone).
Also do not take any other medicinal products that cause dizziness, including sedatives, narcotic pain relievers, muscle relaxants, anti-seizure and anti-anxiety medicines, sleeping pills, antidepressants or tranquilizers.
