Basic Information on Natulan
Natulan is an anti-neoplastic chemotherapy agent and belongs to the group of drugs called the alkylating agents. The drug is used in the management of cancer such as Hodgkin’s lymphoma. It is also used in the treatment Glioblastoma multiforme which is a form of brain cancer. The precise mechanism of action for this drug is not clear. However, it is suggested through some studies that the drug inhibits the transmethylation of methyl group into the t-RNA, thus leading to the absence of the t-RNA. The absence of this functional t-RNA may cease the synthesis of protein and therefore cease the synthesis of DNA and RNA. Additionally, the drug may damage the DNA directly. Thus the brand or generic Natulan acts by inhibiting the synthesis of protein, DNA and RNA.
