For treating individuals with impaired renal function, the dose may have to be lowered as the drug is eliminated from by the body by the kidneys. While individuals with mild renal impairment do not require any dose adjustments, individuals with moderate impairment are prescribed to take it once every two days. Since the effects of this medication have not been studied in patients with severe renal impairment, it is not prescribed in such cases.
