General Information on Motilium Suspension
You can buy Motilium Suspension as an anti-sickness medication for the treatment of nausea and vomiting in adults as well as children. The generic name for this drug is domperidone, which is a dopamine antagonist.
Motilium Suspension works by blocking the dopamine receptors in the digestive system. The medication causes the muscles at the entrance of the stomach to contract and muscles at the exit of the stomach to relax. These actions result in a better passage of food through the digestive tract, which eventually helps prevent nausea or vomiting or feelings of fullness, bloating or sickness. It also stops you from regurgitating food from your stomach.
In addition to this, Motilium Suspension also acts on dopamine receptors in the brain that trigger reactions in the stomach when the body senses an irritant in it. Therefore, this medication prevents the receptors in the brain from triggering nausea and vomiting episodes, thus treating the feeling of sickness.
Side effects of Motilium Suspension
You must not buy Motilium Suspension if you have previously suffered an allergy to domperidone. It is also contraindicated for use by patients suffering from gastrointestinal obstruction, perforation or hemorrhage.
Motilium Suspension may cause an allergic reaction in very rare cases. The signs of such a reaction include swollen face, lips and tongue, breathing problems, tightness in the chest and the appearance of hives. Other side effects that may occur on taking Motilium Suspension include abdominal cramps, dystonic reactions (seizures, uncontrollable twitching of muscles), galactorrhea (spontaneous nipple discharge) and gyaecomastia (enlargement of mammary glands). You must inform your doctor if you suffer from any of these side effects.
An overdose of Motilium Suspension may result in disorientation and drowsiness. The effects of an overdose occur to a greater degree in children. You must seek immediate medical attention if any of these signs of an overdose are experienced by you or a child prescribed with Motilium Suspension.
