General Information on Naprosyn SR
Naprosyn SR is a controlled released form of naproxen, which is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, or NSAID. It is given for the treatment of swelling, pain and inflammation caused due to osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis.
Naprosyn SR does not cure the above conditions, but it provides patients with relief from their symptoms. This drug works by preventing the action of chemicals that cause pain, stiffness and inflammations in the body.
You may buy Naprosyn SR for relieving patients of pain, swelling and inflammations that are caused by other medical conditions if the doctor has recommended it.
Side effects of Naprosyn SR
Naprosyn SR is an NSAID, and hence it could increase the risk of severe and often life-threatening problems in blood circulation and the heart, such as stroke and heart attack. This risk is greater for patients who are on Naprosyn SR for a long time and for older patients. Additionally, Naprosyn SR must not be taken right after or before a heart bypass surgery. If you notice any signs of circulation or heart problems, you must inform your doctor at once. These signs would include problems in speech, balance and vision, falling short of breath, chest pain and unusual weakness.
Naprosyn SR may also increase the risk of sudden and severe stomach problems and intestine problems. These problems can appear spontaneously and may also turn severe. Such conditions include perforations or bleeding from the stomach or intestines. You must tell your doctor as soon as possible if you suffer from any of the following signs of stomach or intestinal problems- tarry, bloody or black colored stools, vomiting or coughing blood or vomit that resembles coffee grounds.
You may not be able to buy Naprosyn SR if you are breastfeeding or in the third trimester of their pregnancy. Your doctor must be contacted if the following mild side effects turn severe- constipation, abdominal pain, dizziness, diarrhea, headache, sleeping trouble, nausea, lightheadedness, heartburn and drowsiness.
