General Information on Nordette
Nordette is an oral contraceptive used for preventing pregnancy. Its other uses include regulating menstrual cycles and treating acne. Nordette is a combination of ethinyl estradiol and levonorgestrel. Ethinyl estradiol and Levonorgestrel are female hormones. While the former is a form of estrogen, the latter is a form of progestin.
Nordette interrupts the pregnancy process in three ways. First, it stops ovaries from releasing eggs. Secondly, it also changes the cervical mucus which does not allow the sperm to enter the womb. Lastly, it changes the lining of the womb, which does not allow the egg to attach itself to the wall of the uterus.
There are a few benefits of using Nordette as a birth control pill. It keeps a check on the loss of iron during periods, which reduces the chances of anemia. It also prevents menstrual symptoms such as pain, and protects against certain cancers of the ovary and uterus. It also allows women to time when the period occurs.

Nordette is available in a pack of 28 tablets, each containing 0.03 mg of ethinyl estradiol and 0.15 mg of levonorgestrel. However, there are no active ingredients in the last seven tablets. One of the essential things to remember is that the pill has to be consumed at the same time every day.
