General Information on Noritate Cream

Noritate Cream is used for treating symptoms associated with acne rosacea such as redness and swelling. The generic name of this drug is Metronidazole. It comes under a category of drugs referred as antibiotics.

This drug is available through prescription only. Noritate Cream is meant for topical administration only. It comes in strength, Noritate Cream 1%. The inactive ingredients present in this drug are: stearic acid, glycerin, trolamine, glyceryl monostearate, methylparaben, propylparaben, and purified water.

Side effects of Noritate Cream

All drugs have the potential to cause unwanted side effects, and, Noritate Cream is no different. This drug, however, is not expected to cause severe side effects. With that said, it is better that, before you buy Noritate Cream, you discuss the potential risks that Noritate Cream presents in your case with your doctor.

Before starting treatment, inform your doctor if you have or have had anemia or any other blood cell disorder. Also inform your doctor if you are currently suffering from a serious medical condition.

Common side effects of this topical antibiotic may include: dry skin, itchy skin, nausea, mild headache, stuffy nose, cough, cold symptoms, sore throat, or mild stinging. All of these side effects, in most cases, are mild in nature and temporary. However, if any of these side effects become severe or continue to occur for a long time, you must consult your doctor.

Rarely, this drug may trigger a hypersensitivity reaction. Patients who are hypersensitive to any ingredient used in Noritate Cream should avoid using it. Stop using this drug and consult your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following symptoms: hives, skin rashes, irritation, facial flushing, swelling of the throat, lips, or tongue, shortness of breath, closing of the throat, wheezing, or trouble breathing.

Pregnant women are advised not to buy Noritate Cream unless its use has been approved by a doctor. The safety of this drug in pregnant women has not been studied. That is why it is recommended that you use Noritate Cream during pregnancy only if it is considered safe by your doctor.

It is not known if Noritate Cream enters breast milk. If you are breastfeeding an infant, tell your doctor about it. Your doctor will decide if it is safe for you to breastfeed during treatment.

Dosage of Noritate Cream

You should apply a thin layer of Noritate Cream on the affected skin area(s) once daily or as directed by your doctor.

During treatment, you should keep the following things in mind:

  • Wash and dry the affected skin area(s) before administering this topical cream
  • Do not apply larger amount of this topical cream. A thin layer of Noritate Cream is sufficient.
  • Use only those cosmetics on the treated area which your doctor considers can be safely used with Noritate Cream.
  • Store the topical cream at room temperature, between 20°-30°C

Interactions

Noritate Cream can interact with blood-thinning drugs such as warfarin. Certain other drugs, including non-prescription and herbal products, may also interact with Noritate Cream. It is necessary that, before you buy Noritate Cream, you tell your doctor about all the drugs that you are currently using.
