You should keep the following things in mind to ensure that insulin delivery is safe:
- Use a needle only once
- Attach the pen needle only when you are ready to administer the injection
- Use the needles that are made specifically for the insulin pen that you are using. This is important as different insulin pens may work with different needles.
- Take care to not to miss a dose. If you do, take the missed dose as quickly as possible. However, do not take the missed dose if it is close to your next dosage. You should never take two dosages at the same time or at close interval unless approved by your doctor
- Avoid administering insulin using Novofine needles around a skin area where there is any swelling, pain, or inflammation
