Basic Information On Olux
Olux is a high potential corticosteroid agent which is meant for topical use. It has anti-pruritic, anti-inflammatory and vaso-constrictive properties. The drug is available in various dosage forms such as ointment, liquid, lotion, shampoo, solution and cream. It is used for short term treatments of psoriasis which is mild to moderate in severity. It is used to treat plaque type psoriasis which in the non-scalp region of the body except for the inter-triginous regions and face. Brand or generic Olux is used in the treatment of pruritic and inflammatory manifestations of dermatoses of the scalp which occurs in response to corticosteroid and is moderate to severe in nature. It acts by induction of Lipocortins, which is a phospholipase A2 inhibitory protein.
Precautions / Side Effects For Olux
Common side effects of Olux that you may experience include cracking skin, dry skin, mild skin rash, mild itching/ burning/ reddening, irritation around the mouth, spider veins, swelling of the hair follicles, softening or thinning of the skin, stretch marks, pimples, crusting of the skin (which is treated), blisters etc. If these side effects prolong or worsen then consult your physician. Seek medical attention if you experience any signs of allergic reactions upon administering Clobetasol. These allergic reactions may include difficulty in breathing, hives and swelling in the tongue, throat, face or lips.
Serious side effects of brand or generic Olux may include insomnia (sleep problems), muscle weakness, feeling of tiredness, changes in the mood, blurred vision, halos appearing around light, weight gain or puffiness of the face. If you experience these serious side effects then report the same to your physician. Avoid the use of Clobetasol to areas of your body such as underarms, face or groin. Olux Dosage
Olux is administered in the form of cream and is meant for topical use. The recommended dose of cream is 2 applications to the affected areas of the skin. The cream is applied twice a day, preferably in the morning and at night. If the drug is applied to an area of skin bearing hair, then the hair should be moved away from the area affected before administering the cream. Small amount of the Olux drug is first applied to the finger tips and then gently applied to the affected area along with mild massage until the cream disappears into the skin.
