Basic Information On Ospolot
Ospolot is an anti-convulsion agent which is used in the treatment and management of Pseudo-Lennox Syndrome and Rolando-Epilepsy in children and youth and Focal-Epilepsy in adults (with/without secondary generalizations). It is effective in treating partial seizures, myoclonic seizures, Jacksonian seizures, grand mal seizures and behavioral disorders that are associated with epilepsy. However, the drug does not have any anti-bacterial activity unlike other sulfonamide agents. Brand or generic Ospolot acts by inhibiting an enzyme in the nerve cells called carboanhydrase (or carbonic anhydrase enzyme). By doing this the drug reduces and interrupts the conduction of stimulus in the nerve cells. The drug is effectively used in patients who have not satisfactorily responded to other therapy and helps in reducing or stopping the attacks, especially in Rolando-epilepsy.
