Basic Information On Oxeze
Oxeze is a bronchodilator which is used in the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD) and asthma. It contains eformoterol or formoterol. It is sold in various dosage forms, such as meter dose inhaler (MDI), dry powder inhaler (DPI), inhalation solution and oral tablet. The drug is a long acting β2 agonist (LABA). The long acting character of the drug means that the drug keeps the airways opened for a longer period of time, which is up to a period of 12 hours. The drug acts by relaxing the smooth muscles of the bronchial tract like other LABAs. This helps in opening the airways. Thus, it helps in the treatment of exacerbation of COPD or asthma. The onset of action of Oxeze drug is faster and longer.
Precautions / Side Effects for Oxeze
The common side effects with Oxeze are headache, throat irritation, tremors, heart palpitation, inability to sleep, fast heart rate and nervousness. Generally, the drug is tolerated well by most of the patients. Other rare side effects of Formoterol Fumarate may be anxiety, restlessness, dizziness, taste disturbances, increased blood sugar (in patients with diabetes), muscle cramps, chest pain and decreased blood potassium. Side effects of Brand or generic Oxeze that are rare but rather serious, include allergic reactions such as severe skin rashes, hives, especially near throat and face and difficulty in swallowing and breathing. Avoid Formoterol Fumarate if you have pre-medical conditions like heart problems, diabetes, hyperthyroidism, high blood pressure, low potassium levels in the body etc.
Oxeze Dosage
The recommended dose of Oxeze is 20 mcg unit dosage vial, to be administered two times a day. The drug should be preferably administered in the morning and evening. The drug is taken in form of an inhalation solution. A maximum (total) daily dose is recommended to be 40 mcg and it should not be exceeded. The drug is inhaled orally with the help of a standard jet nebulizer which is connected to the air compressor. The effectiveness of brand or generic Oxeze without the use of a nebulizer is not known. The dosage may be adjusted based on the patient’s response and tolerability.
