Basic Information On Pred Forte
Pred Forte is an intermediate acting corticosteroid drug. It is an ophthalmic solution that has immuno-suppressant and anti-inflammatory properties. It is used in the treatment of inflammation of the cornea, anterior-segment of globe and bulbar and palpebral conjunctiva. It is indicated in the management of irritation, reddening and swelling of the eyes, which is caused due to inflammation. The drug affects the phospholipase A2 inhibitory-protein (known as the lipocortins) that is responsible for the synthesis of PG (prostaglandins) or leukotrienes. The leukotrienes and PG are considered to be potent inflammation mediators. The brand or generic Pred Forte acts at the site where the inflammation has occurred, by inhibiting the leukocyte infiltration. It interferes with the mediators that induce inflammatory responses.
