General Information on Restylane Touch
Restylane Touch is a dermal filler indicated for removing the fine lines on the forehead and around the upper lip. It is also used for the reduction of ‘crow’s feet’, which are some fine lines seen on the outer edge of the eyes.
Restylane Touch contains non animal stabilized hyaluronic acid, also called NASHA. Hyaluronic acid is a natural chemical that keeps the skin full and moisturized. NASHA is better than animal derived hyaluronic acid, since it reduces the risk of allergic reactions and its effect lasts for a longer period of time.
Restylane Touch and the Restylane line of dermal fillers are the first ever, and the only FDA approved dermal fillers that use NASHA. Restylane products are known to be used in over 1.5 million patients up to now.
Side effects of Restylane Touch
Restylane Touch is known to have been used safely. The safety of Restylane products, including Restylane Touch, is well documented. However, like other dermal fillers, Restylane Touch may also cause certain mild side effects when it is administered. These side effects are a result of the process of administration, and not because of the hyaluronic acid.
Patients may experience mild side effects around the site where Restylane Touch was injected. These side effects include pain and numbness. These side effects are transient in nature, and generally fade away in a day or two. However, if you find that the pain or numbness is increasing in intensity or refusing to go away even after a few days, then you must tell this to your doctor right away.
In very rare cases, Restylane Touch may cause lumps or granules on the skin. If you notice any such effects on your skin, you must let your doctor known immediately. You must also tell your doctor if you notice any unusual side effects not mentioned above.
Dosage of Restylane Touch
The dosage of Restylane Touch is determined by your doctor or a qualified Restylane practitioner, depending on several factors. In order to determine whether Restylane Touch can be safely administered, you must share the complete list of other medicines you are taking, any chronic or acute medical conditions you have/had been diagnosed with, and any allergies that you have. You must also discuss your expectations from the treatment and the results that you want.
Restylane Touch is available in the form of a gel that is injected subcutaneously into your skin. The administration may be painful, which is why a numbing or pain relieving ointment or injection may be given before Restylane Touch is injected. The entire process of injecting Restylane Touch takes 30 minutes to complete. It may take 2 to 3 days for you to recover from the treatment and see results.
Once the Restylane Touch treatment is complete the hyaluronic acid remains effective for a period of 6 months or more. This period of efficacy is dependent on several factors, such as age, skin condition and much more. Once you notice the effects of Restylane Touch fading away, you would require a follow up treatment.
Interactions
Restylane Touch may or may not interact with other medicines and topical creams. Nevertheless, it is best if you tell the doctor or Restylane practitioner about any creams or medicines you are taking before Restylane Touch treatment begins.
