General Information on Sectral
Sectral belongs to a group of drugs known as beta-blockers. The generic name of the medication is Acebutolol. It is essentially used for the management of hypertension and heart rhythm disorders in adults.
Sectral works by boosting blood flow through the veins and arteries and improving cardiovascular health. It is available in Sectral 200 mg and Sectral 400 mg strengths.

Side effects of Sectral
You should not buy Sectral if you have:

Dosage of Sectral
The recommended dose for mild to moderate hypertension is 400 mg Sectral a day. However, the dose in some cases could be 400 mg Sectral twice a day. An optimal response is achieved with 400 mg Sectral to 800 mg Sectral a day.
In a few patients, the dose of this medication is as low as 200 mg Sectral a day, and in patients with severe hypertension, a daily dose of 1200 mg Sectral a day is recommended.
For ventricular arrhythmia, the initial dose is 400 mg Sectral a day given as two 200 mg Sectral tablets. The dosage is further increased to 600 mg Sectral to 1200 mg Sectral a day. Older patients are given a maximum of 800 mg Sectral a day.
In case of a missed dose, the patient should take it as soon as he or she remembers to do so. If the next dose is less than 4 hours away, the missed dose must be skipped. One must never overdose on Sectral just to make up for a missed dose.
In case of an overdose of Sectral, symptoms such as uneven heartbeat, shortness of breath, dizziness, weakness, seizure, fainting, or bluish fingernails may surface, which requires emergency medical care.
Interactions
There are 789 drug interactions, 3 food interactions, and 14 disease interactions with Sectral. Drugs like clonidine, guanabenz, MAO inhibitors, diabetes medications, heart medications, medicines for asthma or other breathing problems, and cold medicines, stimulants, or diet pills interact adversely with Sectral. A patient should also avoid alcohol since it can lead to increased dizziness and drowsiness.
