General Information on Simcor
Simcor is used to lower triglycerides and cholesterol in patient’s blood. It is used along with diet to reduce levels of total cholesterol, LDL or bad cholesterol and triglycerides and to increase levels of HDL or good cholesterol. The generic name of this drug is Niacin and Simvastatin.
Simcor belongs to a group of drugs called HMG CoA reductase inhibitors or statins. It is a lipid-altering agent. This medication is available as Simcor 500mg/20mg, Simcor 500mg/40mg, Simcor 750 mg/20mg, Simcor 1000mg/20mg and Simcor 1000mg/40mg.

Side effects of Simcor
You should not buy Simcor online if you have:
- Hypersensitivity to niacin or sivastatin
- Medical history of liver disease
- Alcohol

- Unusual tiredness
- Unexplained muscle pain
Some of the common, and mild, side effects of this drug are:

Pregnant women have to avoid Simcor since it leads to birth defects in an unborn baby. Nursing mothers should avoid this medication since it can pass into breast milk and may harm a nursing baby.
Dosage of Simcor
The recommended dose is Simcor 500/20 mg tablet daily at bedtime with low-fat snack. Patients with high level of lipids should take Simcor 400/40 mg tablet daily at bedtime. The dose should not be increased more than 500 mg daily every month. The maintenance dose is Simcor 1000/20 mg or Simcor 2000/40mg once daily depending upon tolerability of a patient.
In case of missed dose, patient should take the missed dose as soon as he or she remembers. A patient should continue with the schedule if it is almost time for his or her next scheduled dose. A patient has not to take an extra dose to make up the missed dose. In case of an overdose of Simcor, an emergency medical care is needed.
Interactions
There are many drugs that can interact with Simcor. A patient has to inform doctor especially if he or she is taking colchicine, digoxin, blood pressure medication, warfarin, other medicines that contain niacin, any other statin medication. A patient should avoid alcohol and follow cholesterol lowering diet plan.
