General Information on Supartz
Supartz is used for the treatment of knee pain in patients having osteoarthritis. Its generic name is Hyaluronate.
Usually, this medicine is given to patients whose condition was not relieved with exercise, physical therapy or acetaminophen. Hyaluronate is similar to a naturally occurring substance, synovial fluid, in joints. It acts as a shock absorber and lubricants in the joints, helping the joint to move easily. In this way, pain in the joints is reduced.
This medicine is given to the patient in the form of an injection. The medicine is injected into the affected joint. It is not injected into an artery or vein, as severe side effects may occur.
