General Information on Tamiflu
Oseltamivir or oscltamivir phosphate is the generic name of Tamiflu. It is an antiviral drug that helps in blocking the actions of influenza virus type A and B. Tamiflu is prescribed for treating flu symptoms. You can buy Tamiflu online only if you have been diagnosed with an influenza virus infection and have been prescribed this drug by your doctor. The various ingredients in Tamiflu apart from oscltamivir phosphate include povidone K30, pregelatinized starch, croscarmellose sodium, talc, and sodium stearyl fumarate.
Side effects of Tamiflu
Tamiflu has both mild and severe side effects. Some of the most common side effects of Tamiflu include nausea and vomiting, stomach pain and diarrhea. Tamiflu can also cause severe allergic reactions, and some of the symptoms include hives, rashes, irritation, difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, swelling of the lips and mouth, tightness in the chest, mood changes, abnormal behavior, blistered and peeling skin, hallucinations and confusion, chills, fever, and sore throat, and seizures.
Clinical trials in the past have shown adverse reactions and severe side effects in patients being administered different doses of Tamiflu. In the clinical trials, symptoms of side effects like bronchitis, vertigo, and insomnia were noticed. Prophylaxis studies have shown that Tamiflu can lead to severe side effects, and symptoms including pain and aches, dyspepsia, infection in the upper respiratory tract, rhinorrhea, unstable angina, humerus fracture, anemia, pneumonia, pseudomembranous colitis, peritonsillar abscess, and pyrexia. If you notice any of these symptoms after the administration of Tamiflu, seek emergency medical help immediately.
Precautions
If you have been prescribed Oseltamivir, check the label for the expiry date before you buy Tamiflu. It is recommended by doctors not to self medicate or use Tamiflu if you are allergic to its primary ingredient oseltamivir or any of the secondary ingredients. Inform your doctor if you are using a nasal flu vaccine like FluMist or if you are suffering from heart, lung, or kidney disease. It is not known if Tamiflu is harmful to pregnant women or unborn babies, but most doctors suggest that such patients do not take the medication during pregnancy. Tamiflu is known to pass into breast milk, so nursing mothers need to take extra precautions and consult their doctor before they go ahead and buy Tamiflu.
Tamiflu Dosage
Tamiflu is available in the form of Tamiflu 30mg, Tamiflu 45mg, and Tamiflu 75mg capsules for oral use. The recommended dosage for adult patients and adolescents aged 13 years or older is Tamiflu 75mg twice a day for a period of 5 days. The recommended treatment should begin within 2 days from the onset of influenza symptoms. The recommended dose for pediatric patients is based on their weight. Patients weighing less than 15kg or 33lbs should be administered Tamiflu 30mg twice daily. Patients weighing between 15kg or 33lbs to 40kg or 88lbs should be administered Tamiflu 45mg or 60mg twice daily. Patients weighing 40kg or more should be administered Tamiflu 75mg twice daily.
Interactions
Tamiflu is not known to have any clinically significant drug interactions, although doctors recommend that the live attenuated influenza vaccine (LAIV) intranasal not be administered simultaneously with Tamiflu.
