General Information on Toradol
Toradol is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug or NSAID. The chemical name of Toradol is ketorolac.
Toradol is given as a short term treatment for moderate and severe pain. It may be used as a single medication or it may be a part of a treatment plan comprising of several drugs. Toradol is usually given only for 5 days or less. It has been found to be especially useful for treating post-operative pain.

Side effects of Toradol
Toradol may increase the risk of serious and even fatal blood circulation or heart problems. This includes heart attacks and strokes. The risk of such problems increases with the duration of treatment. You must inform your doctor immediately if you begin to notice any signs of circulation or heart problems, such as weakness, chest pain, slurred speech, shortness of breath, and vision and balance problems.
Toradol also increases the risk of serious stomach and intestinal problems, such as perforation and bleeding. These problems can occur quickly and without any warning, and the condition deteriorates quickly over time. Old patients who are taking Toradol have a greater risk of experiencing such effects. You must let your doctor know at once if you notice the following signs of stomach or intestinal problems, such as coughing out blood or vomit that resembles coffee grounds and bloody, black or tar-like stools. You must avoid alcohol for some time while Toradol is effective in your body since it increases the risk of stomach bleeding.
Toradol may cause mild side effects, such as ringing of the ears, sweating, drowsiness, headache, dizziness, flatulence, bloating, stomach pain, mild heartburn, constipation, diarrhea, vomiting, mild nausea and upset stomach.
Dosage of Toradol
You may buy Toradol in the form of an injection or tablet of ketorolac 10mg strength. The daily dosage and time of treatment will be determined by your doctor after a complete evaluation. Do not take a larger dose of this medication, and do not continue taking it for longer than required.
The first dosage of Toradol is given in the form of an intravenous injection. The oral form of Toradol is only indicated as a continuation of treatment after IM or IV dosing. Therefore, the initial dosage will always be given in a hospital or doctor’s office.
Interactions
You must not take Toradol along with other NSAIDs such as naproxen, ibuprofen, diclofenac, diflunisal, etodolac, flurbiprofen, indomethacin, ketoprofen, mefenamic acid, piroxicam, meloxicam or nabumetone. You must also not take Toradol with aspirin. Taking such medications together increases the effects of Toradol, leading to an overdose. You must also tell your doctor if you are taking any antidepressants such as duloxetine, citalopram, venlafaxine, fluvoxamine, fluoxetine and paroxetine. Taking Toradol along with antidepressants may result in easy bleeding or bruising. In fact, you must inform your doctor about all the medicines you are taking, including blood thinners, diuretics, muscle relaxants, steroids, seizure medicines, hypertension medicines, and ACE inhibitors.
