General Information on Tricor
The generic name of Tricor is fenofibrate. It belongs to the drug class known as lipid regulating agents, and it reduces the level of triglycerides and cholesterol in the blood.

- Nausea
- Severe stomach ache
Other mild side effects associated with Tricor include skin rashes, flatulence, bloating, indigestion and joint pain. These side effects are only temporary, often getting cured on their own. However, you must inform your doctor if these side effects become severe or if they refuse to go away even after a long time.
Dosage of Tricor
You can buy Tricor as an oral tablet in two strengths- Tricor 48mg and Tricor 145mg. The former is a yellow colored tablet, while the latter is white in color. The dosage and frequency of use of Tricor will be determined by your doctor after complete evaluation of your condition. You must not take a larger dosage of Tricor than what was prescribed for your condition.
Tricor must be taken along with water, and may or may not be accompanied by food. Fenofibrate is available in different brands, and some of them may work better with food. This medication is also known to interact with cyclosporine, blood thinners like warfarin, and other cholesterol level controlling medications such as simvastatin, lovastatin, pravastatin, fluvastatin, cerivastatin and atorvastatin.
