Basic Information On Ultravist
Ultravist is a non-ionic contrast agent which is iodinated. It is used as an intravascular injection. The drug is used for intra-arterial procedures such as peripheral arteriography, cerebral arteriography, coronary arteriography, left ventriculography, aortography and visceral angiography. In the intravenous procedures, the drug is used for excretory urography, peripheral venography, contrast CT (computer tomography) of the body and head and for evaluating the non-neoplastic and neoplastic lesions. Brand or generic Ultravist once injected, passes through the body. It delineates the body structures containing iodine and does not delineate those which do not have iodine, therefore there is a contrast. The opacity depends on the volume or concentration of the iodinated contrast-agent. Thus, the drug makes the blood vessels opaque and allows the visualization of internal structures.
