Vancocin is a glycol-peptide antibiotic drug which is derived from the Streptomyces orientalis. It is used to treat or prevent bacterial infections. It is administered orally in the form of capsules. It is used in the treatment of colitis or diarrhea which is caused due to certain strains of bacteria. It is also used in the treatment of pseudomembranous colitis and entero-colitis which is caused due to C. difficile and Staphylococcus aureus respectively.
