Basic Information On Vermox
Vermox is a benzimidazole and a broad spectrum synthetic anthelmintic agent. The drug is used in the treatment of pin worms (Enterobius vermicularis), whipworms (Trichuris trichiura), common hookworm (Ancylostoma duodenale), American hookworm (Necator americanus) and common round worms (Ascaris lumbricoides). It is used to treat these organisms either as a single infection or as mixed infections. The brand or generic Vermox acts by blocking the synthesis of micro-tubules. This leads to immobilization of the parasites and eventually kills the worms. Secondly, the drug also interferes with the metabolism of the carbohydrates, thereby; it impairs the ability of the parasites to use any glucose in the host body. As per a study, the efficacy of the drug ranges between 68% and 99%.
