Basic Information On Vesicare
Vesicare belongs to anti-cholinergic class of drugs. It is an anti-spasmodic agent. It is used in the treatment and management of symptoms associated with overactive bladder. These symptoms include urinary frequency, urinary urgency and urinary incontinence. It is also helpful in the treatment of detusor muscle instability. The drug is a competitive antagonist to muscarinic receptor. It prevents acetylcholine (which is responsible for smooth muscle contraction of the bladder) from binding with these receptors. Thus the brand or generic Vesicare reduces the tone of the smooth muscle of the urinary bladder. This allows the urinary bladder to accommodate more urine volumes. This further helps in reducing the frequency of incontinence. The drug is administered orally in the form of tablets.
