General Information on Vincristine

Vincristine is indicated for the treatment of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, leukemia, Wilm’s tumor, neuroblastoma, and rhabdomyosarcoma.   • Tingling or burning feeling, numbness, pain
  • Chills, white sores, or patches on the lips or inside the mouth, fever, mouth pain, sore throat
  • Spinning sensation
  • Vision, speech, balance or hearing problems
  • Severe swelling, pain, redness, or burning at the administration site
  • Yellow skin or eyes, loss of appetite, dark urine, stomach ache, low fever

Less serious side effects of Vincristine may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Weakness
  • Bone pain
  • Jaw pain
  • Temporary hair loss
  • Diarrhea, vomiting, nausea

Dosage of Vincristine

The recommended dosage for adult patients is Vincristine 1.4 mg/m². Patients who have a direct serum bilirubin value in excess of 3 mg per 100 ml should be administered 50% of the recommended dosage.

The recommended dosage for pediatric patients is Vincristine 1.5-2.0 mg/m². The starting dose for pediatric patients who weigh 10 kg or less is Vincristine 0.5 mg/kg.

Interactions

Certain drugs may interfere with Vincristine. These include:

  • Isoniazid
  • AIDS or HIV drugs like nelfinavir, delavirdine, atazanavir, ritonavir, indinavir, saquinavir, or fosamprenavir
  • Certain antidepressants
  • Certain antibiotics like telithromycin, erythromycin, clarithromycin, or quinupristin
  • Phenytoin
  • Certain antifungal medicines like Voriconazole, clotrimazole, ketoconazole, or itraconazole
  • Imatinib
  • Diclofenac
