General Information on Vospire ER
Vospire ER (extended release) is indicated for the treatment of bronchospasm caused by asthma, chronic bronchitis, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), and emphysema. The generic name of this drug is Albuterol. This drug comes under a category of drugs referred as beta agonists.
Vospire ER works by relaxing the muscles around the airways. As a result, the airways opens up and the air is inhaled and exhaled more easily. This drug also, to a certain extent, reduces the activity of certain cells in the lungs (mast cells) that play a vital role in allergic reactions.
This drug is meant for oral administration only. Patients can buy Vospire ER online in form of oral tablets. The available strengths are Vospire ER 4 mg and 8 mg. Nonmedical ingredients present in the oral tablets are: titanium dioxide, ethylcellulose, polyethylene glycol, stearic acid, magnesium stearate, ferric oxide black, calcium sulfate, propylene glycol, carnauba wax, ink-thinner XI, shellac, hypromellose, triacetin, and lactose monohydrate. In addition, Vospire 4 mg oral tablets also contain FD&C Blue #1 and D&C Yellow #10.

Dosage of Vospire ER
The dosage of Vospire ER may vary from patient to patient. The recommended dosage for adults and children older than 12 years is 8 mg two times per day. If required, the dosage may be increased up to 16 mg two times a day.
The recommended dosage for children in age bracket 6-12 years is 4 mg two times a day. If required, the dosage may be increased to 8 mg two times a day.
Interactions
Vospire ER may interact with certain drugs. Information about some drugs and how they interact with Vospire ER is shared below:
- MAOIs (such as tranylcypromine or phenelzine) – May increase patient’s risk to certain side effects of Vospire ER
- Tricyclic antidepressants (such as amitriptyline) – May increase patient’s risk to certain side effects of Vospire ER
- Other beta-blockers (such as propranolol) – May reduce the efficacy of Vospire ER
- Digoxin –Vospire ER may reduce the efficacy of this drug
- Diuretics – Risk to hypokalemia (low levels of potassium in the blood) may increase if taken with Vospire ER
Other drugs, such as COMT inhibitors, sympathomimetics, stimulants, may also interact this drug. If you are taking any drugs, inform your doctor about it.
