General Information on Zenpep
Zenpep is used to treat exocrine pancreatic insufficiency caused by cystic fibrosis or other medical conditions such as blockage of the pancreatic ducts or chronic inflammation of the pancreas. Exocrine pancreatic insufficiency is a medical condition in which the body is unable to digest food because pancreas is unable to make enough enzymes required for digestion.
Pancrelipase, the main active ingredient in the medication is a combination of three naturally occurring enzymes, Ipase, Protease, and Amylase. These enzymes help body digest sugar, proteins, and fats in food.
Zenpep is available in the form of a delayed release capsule. It is supplied in 4 strengths which are color-coded for easy identification.
